One morning, Jesus was sitting on my shoulder as I read through my emails. I opened one that was nothing but pictures of baby animals in adorable but unlikely situations, each with an inspirational caption.
"Ugh," He said. "That crap makes even me queasy."
"Yeah, I hear you," I chuckled. "Some people need to get jobs or maybe just better hobbies than putting together junk like that."
He shook His head. "Maybe they should just spend some more time in church." We both laughed ourselves to tears, Jesus rolling off my shoulder onto the ground, clutching His sides. One of the angels put down his beer and came over to help Him to his feet while a few of the others chuckled to themselves.
"I'm okay, I'm okay…" He waved the angel away and stood up, smoothing out his robe and putting his sandal back on.
"That was a good one, Jesus!" I wiped tears from my cheeks. "You're much funnier than anyone gives you credit for."
"Hey, if you're gonna be the Messiah, you gotta have a sense of humor." He popped the top on a beer, passed it to me and grabbed another one for Himself.
"Amen to that brother," I replied, clinking bottles with the Savior.
