Short Story By: Erin

The dark, icy water is closing in and my heart is beating louder, but slower at the same time. I can feel my heart breaking.

I'm going under, and I don't care. The dark water is filling up my lungs. I can't breathe. I'm slowly dying, but it feels good to just give up, and let go of the past. Fighting the icy water only brings more pain to my body and my already broken heart. The water has no light to take me to the surface. I'm trapped in my pain. All I can do is slowly die. I try to fight the dark, icy water but I'm weak, and I cannot hold my breath any longer. Life seems so far away, but I continue to fight against the dark, icy water I created in my life. For some reason I want to return to my old life of secrets, lies, and heartbreak, because anything is better than being trapped in this never ending pain.

I've almost reached the surface, a dull light is trying to peak through the dark water. A friendly hand is reaching for me to come back into the world. I take the hand, that was there all along. I'm out of the pain and never ending darkness. I've survived the dark, icy water.

this piece is very powerful for something of it's length! You've packed a lot of strong emotion into such a short piece of extended imagery, but you know what? It works. It works really well. I think that we've all had a time like this, I know I have.

it's a wonderful piece of work.

Wow... I think I can relate to this... youve just stuffed this with emotion... its amazing! I love the line "Fighting the icy water only brings more pain to my body and my already broken heart". It just strikes a chord in me... with everything going on in my life, sometimes fighting to swim against the tide is just so much harder, and so much more painful than just letting myself drift with it... even if that means sure death. But enough of my babbling.... I really like this. Wonderful write!

Thank you. Yeah, I wrote this when a event was going on in my life but after a while I won th fight with the help of many friends and God. If I hadn't had them than I would still be fighting more than likely.

Erin,

Your journey to the depths and back again...a super piece of writing. I will never forget the image of the waiting hand. A single paragraph is the perfect format.
Good work!

YA I know I kind of wanted it that way in this certain piece. But I'm always up for critque it makes me a better writer. As long as you don't trash it.

Love Always,
Erin

This poem was very tense. I think the repetitiveness made the poem for me. It really made feel I was in that situation. As I was reading it, I was feeling all these emotion all at once, which I believe is what you were trying to accomplish. Great Job!!

The influence of Erin makes you positive, self-assertive, and independent. You can be creative, inventive, and ingenious in practical matters, such as handicrafts. When you have the opportunity to pursue your own goals and interests free from interference, you can feel very agreeable and express a buoyant optimism. On the other hand, you can be impulsive and forceful when opposed, and act without due forethought and discretion. Hence you have many bitter experiences and generally rather unsettled conditions in your life, with little progress and financial accumulation. You cannot tolerate any domination by others, or circumstances that restrict your freedom and independence. You are inclined to make changes abruptly in your life as an escape from such conditions.
