A blessing was born
Waking up one morning and realizing that something that means the world to you could be gone in the next 24 hours is the scariest thing someone could ever experience in their lifetime. Well believe it or not-this is exactly what I faced about a year ago. The cat in this story was my best friend. I told her everything and anything without her judging me. She was the sweetest and most loveable fur friend you could ever have. She was pure gray with golden eyes. She would follow me everywhere and never leave my side. She'd sleep with my every night and wake me up by pawing at me. Unfortunately, about a year ago she passed away. To this day I still remember the day that she passed away like it was yesterday.
Enchanted-that name still makes me tear up when I hear someone say it because she was my best friend in the whole wide world. I woke up one morning and went downstairs to feed her and give her fresh water (like I did every morning.) But this morning was different-she was not acting or looking like herself whatsoever. Enchanted was normally a playful, loveable, and energetic cat-but that morning she was not. She was not eating or drinking nor was she walking around. She laid in one spot and wouldn't move. The thing that scared me the most was that she was breathing very heavily, slowly, and open-mouthed. Her face was puffed out and swollen-she did not look like the same cat. Her cheeks were so puffed out that it made her look like a chipmunk. I was very scared as I did not want my best friend to die. I sat down beside my best friend and was crying my heart out to see her suffer like that.
I called my mom in tears telling her what was wrong with Enchanted. My mom said that when she got home from work she would try and find a vet. When my mom got home she called around to numerous vets but none of them would take payments. My mom finally got a vet to take her and we were going to take her the very next morning. I went to my grandma's house to see Enchanted and tell her goodbye in case she did not make it through the night. As soon as I got through the door to my grandma's house the first thing she said to me was "Enchanted is gone." I just sat there on the floor crying because I never got the chance to tell her goodbye. We laid Enchanted in a box and put her favorite toy in with her and covered her up then took her to Bonnie's house to bury her. We buried her in Bonnie's flower garden so that we could grow beautiful flowers on her grave every year.
About two months ago my grandma's two cats Spunky and Lucky had kittens. They each had 5 kittens. Whenever I came to my grandma's house to see the newborn kittens I spotted out a kitten that looked IDENTICAL like Enchanted. I kept her and named her Precious. She is pure gray with golden eyes just like Enchanted was. God knew how devastated I was about Enchanted's passing so he made a miracle happen and made one of the kittens in the litter look exactly like Enchanted. Precious does not leave my sight and every step I take she takes. She's like my lost puppy dog. She sleeps with me and wakes me up by pawing at me just like Enchanted did. Enchanted will live on through Precious. Precious will never replace Enchanted-but I will love her just as much. This experience taught me how to cope with death.
Everything gets better with time. Miracles do come true.
