It was not her tone rather her answer that bothered me: and the reason I write this today.
My oldest brother was recently hired by a Cinemark bistro. Working from morning till night, I rarely caught a glimpse of him more less a good conversation with him. As his work hours accumulated, the fewer hours I actually had contact with him. This is why I'm writing this.
I was out with his girlfriend and her younger sister shopping at a nearby store to purchase mum supplies for homecoming at our school. Casually, I mentioned the limited interaction my brother and me had on a daily basis. She responded, "Don't worry he doesn't talk to me much either." I sincerely acknowledge her intention to sound sympathetic towards me, but I ponder what justification did she have to meet me where I was at, figuratively? A simple statement yet something that bothered me about it. I've known my brother for about 16 years while she's known him for about two. Did this fact pave way for such a statement of idiosyncratic proportions? Did it justify it? I assured myself it wasn't jealousy because for one I'm a man; secondly, jealousy was out of the realms of man-hood. Or was it?
