Days That Would Never Change

Those days were the days, I thought as I heard the song 'Sweet Home Alabama' playing on the radio.

It was 1989 and I was caught between the age of a boy and a man, my hair was long and my thoughts were short.

She was seventeen and it was summertime in northern Michigan, we were talking by the campfire. Those days we didn't have the internet, but I will never forget the way the moonlight shined upon her hair.

Everyone passed the whiskey around and everyone drank straight from the bottle, none of us thought about tomorrow and we all sang to 'Sweet Home Alabama'

Those were the times to smoke funny things and to try different things, and to make love out by the lake to our favourite song.

We were watching the waves roll off the rocks, it was so beautiful like her, she would always hold a spot inside my soul forver.

We waited for night to come as we blistered in the sun so we could play some rock and roll.

Now the leaves began to change and nothing seemed as weird, or how we thought the long days would never end.

Years passed by and sometimes I'd hear that song and think 'man I'd love to see that girl again'

But things change and we grew up and grew apart and live our lives differently.

But everyone would remember them as the 'Days That Would Never Change'
