Is it wrong to use a homeless man for entertainment?

I've recently taken in a vagrant from the local village. I allow him to sleep in the coal bunker and eat the kitchen scraps. In return, I use him for entertainment purposes. I've had him dress up as a roast turkey and do a dance, made him walk up the stairs on stilts and whenever I see him on the manor grounds, I throw a few things at him such as cabbages, gravel or chairs.
Now, however, the local vicar has telephoned me quite angry. Apparently what I'm doing is 'appalling'. Is it really wrong to use a peasant like this?
