As I round to the corner of the ice rink, Erick catches up to me.

"Whatcha doin' here?" He asked, easily keeping up with me.

Erick was tall guy. About 5'11" at 17. He had blond hair that flipped up in the front with bright blue eyes. He was quite buff. His cheekbones were high, with plump lips and a dazzling smile. His eyebrow had a slice in it from an accident he had in a hockey game.

"What, I can't skate?" I retorted. Speeding up, I twist and become airborne before landing and continuing on.

Erick followed, less than a step behind. He puts his arm around my shoulder, "I can't hang with a friend after a hockey game, in which I scored half the points?"
Erick and I have a love-hate relationship. Our parents were good friend and we live in the same neighborhood. We hang out from time to time.

I laugh, "Congrats." I turn another corner, then turn to look at him. "So why are you still here?"

"Well, I saw you in the line for skating and thought I'd come and say hi." He rubs the back of his neck when he gets nervous.

"I'm about to get off anyways. You wanna go get some ice cream to celebrate?" I look up at him, jealous at the height difference between them. A couple inches at the most.

He laughs, putting his hand on my bright red, curly hair and messing it up. "Ok, but I don't know why you want ice cream after just getting off the rink."

Just then, as we turned to get off the rink, someone knocks into me and pushes me forward, making me lose my balance. I fall onto my side. Blood is everywhere.

I wake up in the ER with bandages all over me. As I look around, I see the doctor talking to Erick and my parents. I overhear part of their conversation. "...cracked head, dislocated jaw and fractured left side of the jaw, dislocated shoulder and elbow, fractured both arms, left leg, and various parts of ankle and foot, a couple cracked ribs..." I shy away from the voice and try to go back to sleep...
