Person no. 1

I sat on my front porch and stared at the melting sunset, wishing with all the strength that I had left in me that I could appreciate this scenery without anxiety gnawing on my heart like a starved rat,but it was no use. He was going to come back from work, and whatever had made him angry during his day, he would lash onto me. I closed my eyes, trying my best to yeild from the tears that were desperate to be set free, desperate to run loose and wild, causing my face to dampen, wearing out my eyes with the pityful spending of salty water. The radio that I had turned on was blaring nosiely in the background, but I wasn't really listning, I was just walowing in my own misrey, waiting for him to get home so I could recieve the first blows. Without my realising, my ears tuned into a new song that had just come on the radio, the words seemed to echo around me, floating by like hidden messages to the heart.

"People killin', people dyin'
Children hurt and you hear them cryin'
Can you practice what you preach
And would you turn the other cheek

Father, Father, Father help us
Send some guidance from above
'Cause people got me, got me questionin'
Where is the love (Love)"

Right then and there, I felt like I had found a small clue to my problem, I felt a sense of relief,as if the worlds burden had removed a small load, it may have been small, but at least something was being removed. I just had to find the missing love, and the father who seemed to be holding it.

Person no. 2

Gray walls. That was all I saw, every single day of my life, I saw gray lifeless walls, surrounding me, holding me captive, imprisoning me. I was the lowest form of human known to mankind, a criminal, and for my careless and dangerouas ways, I was sent to this cell, as what I felt was eternal punishment. I sighed heavily, bending forward to switch on the tiny radio they had given me, I switched it on, hoping it would fill the empty scilence that hung suspended in the air. I lay back on my hard, coarse bed, and began to think, of what I had become and had once been.

"People killin', people dyin'
Children hurt and you hear them cryin'
Can you practice what you preach
And would you turn the other cheek

Father, Father, Father help us
Send some guidance from above
'Cause people got me, got me questionin'
Where is the love (Love)"

The words came bursting out of the radio player, and hit me, I felt my eyes water a little as the song continued, all my life I had been looking for love, but I had tried to find it the wrong way, now look at where I am. Slowly rotting in prison. I turned over to my side and let the tears fall. Where is the love?

Person no. 3

The bounce of a ball thumps on the black tarmarc as I sit on the corner of the road, watching the children my age play football (soccer) without any concern for me. I tightned my jacktet, as an unwanted gust of wind blew past, the ball that the children where playing with lost control and came soaring over to my corner, hiting me square in the face, and falling into my shrivelled hands. One of the children started walking towards me, a black boy with a pinched face. I stood up, and walked forward, holding the ball at arms length. "This belongs to you" I muttered, wishing my accent wasn't so evident. The boy's face broke into a bone chilling smile, he stepped forward, but with more menace. "Suppose you can't try to steal tit now with all eyes on you! Go back to where you came from Paki!!" He yelled, shoving me with great force against the cold hard wall behind me. The other children behind him howled in laughter, as he took off running back to his group of friends. I didn't move for a few minutes, letting the words sink in, then I began to walk away, my head bent in shame.

On my home, the sound of a rather loud radio blared from a passing shop,

"People killin', people dyin'
Children hurt and you hear them cryin'
Can you practice what you preach
And would you turn the other cheek

Father, Father, Father help us
Send some guidance from above
'Cause people got me, got me questionin'
Where is the love (Love)"

I stopped in my tracks, and continued listining to the song, wondering at the same time why there was no love in this western world, and thinking why I could only be judged by the color of my skin, and the thickness of my accent. I shook my head vividly and stepped forward, continuing my walk home.

What do you mean Booksie is messing this up? I have herd that a few times from people what is happening to it?

Again great concept loved the 3 different perspectives keep working this. I would like to see a little more drama or tension in your writing.

ok, yeh booksie mmssed it up before by not showing it and muddling everything around.

first i know what you mean about booksie messing it up as my stuff gets messed up sometimes and you dont know it till you post it and then you have to go back and edit it and it gets frustrating

now about you short story--i love it!! i usually dont anything but poems as i dont have the time but since it was from you i decided to read and as far as i can tell it dont matter what you write you got skills :) i love that song to btw it is one of my favs and i often find myself asking "where is the love" especially when i watch the news (which is so full of violence these days like the story i heard on last nites news about a guy who shot and killed his BROTHER--how horrible is that) i felt that song was the best fit for your story

now as per your request--which one finds the love, well sometimes i like to see things thru rose colored glasses so if i were writing the story they would all three find love but not the kind of love most people think about when they think love im hoping that they all find the love of God :)

so now im anxiously awaiting the rest of the story so please let me know when its up :)

also on a side note i did notice a couple of small things that you mite want to change there was a couple of typos i think and also one thing that is like a pet peeve for me (and i see A LOT of people make this mistake) i noticed in one place you wrote "hoping it would feel the empty scilence" the problem is that it should have been fill and not feel and also some misspelled words (example--knawing should be gnawing) sorry but these things just kinda bug me and as a reader they distract me but then im a little OCD so sometimes little things bug me when other people would never notice them :) but i do want to say that this story is a very good one :) oh yeah im clicking the i like button too :)

Thanks sooo much deanna! im so happy you liked it that much!! I wasn't too sure if the song fit in with the story, but I am soooooo sad about that guy who killd his brother!! how awful! gosh the world is really taking a turn for the worse. And yes one of them will find the love of God, but which one? It could very well be all three!!

...
What an awesome story!! Like.. whoa! I totally love the three different stories all around the one song. And I want them all to find love!! Pwleaseeee! lol. But if I had to pick one I'd say three.. Or one.. or two.. No idk. I want them all to find it. lol. Good work!!

i love that song! and you did a really great job with this. i love how you took three completely different stories and united them together into one just by using a song. its very original and very good. keep up the good work! =)

very deep! i loved it though, more people need to speak up about the bad stuff that happens, then maybe people wouldnt feel so alone and unloved!

I guess so!! but hey where is the love?

First off, what a fabulous idea! Really great. I'm voiting for #2. I think being in prison he had time to think about the changes he wanted to make in his life. Finding love and acceptance doesn't necessarily mean freedom. I'd like to see where you would take his story. Once again this is a wonderful idea.

thank you dragonfly!! the person who finds the right type of love you will find out in part two!!!!

How sad... But you did a great job from three people's points of view. I loved it ^^

ah well kaori we'll just have to see.

I agree with Kaori...with GOD's guidance and love, they all would find the true love 'within' themselves....

thankyou!

That was really good Wandy. I reckon either person number 1 or 3 will find the love, person number 2 perhaps will find the love when he/she lives person but at the moment I think that it's best that they serve the punishment for their crime.

Keep up the great work!

thank you! happy you liked it!

A very interesting read. There were quite a bit of typos in it, so you may want to go back through it. I think someone above mentioned a couple of them. I've never heard of the Black Eyed Peas..... What kind of music do they play? It's apparantly not Jazz or 70's rock, as that's mostly what I listen to.

You know what this reminded me of? I watch Battlestar Gallactica. Towards the end of the last season, the 4 remaining Cylons all heard the same song, "All Along The Watchtower", at the same time. These 4 people are supposed to help their people and the human race find Earth again.

You could expand on this story sooo much more!! There's so many possibilities! I vote for Person #2, for the mere fact, I've been in his/her position.

In your next story, will you be expanding on all their stories, or just the one who finds their Love/Happiness?

I'll expand on all of them I believe!! thanks for the comment! part two won't be on for a while because I'm off to A summer camp!!!

This is a great story. It did make me stop and think about how people can be so cruel. I loved how you set out this story.
As to who will find love and acceptance, I don't know, they all deserve it so bad and they all sound like they all have realised about love and hate, but i have 2 say number 3 because i feel that he will work 2 get acceptance. I would have said number 2 but I dont feel that he would be able to get acceptance.

Love the story, I'm always askin myself, "Where is the love?". I think everyone can relate to the last person, we all get teased some point in our lives. I love that you've taken such a good song and wrote a story around it. It's amazing how the same song effected those 3 different people, if only all artists realised how much influence they had. I know how hard the road to finding love is, so I'm cheering for all three!
