She leans her head on the window of the bus as it makes its way through the forsaken road to her home. She winces every now and then. She can't help but be amazed at the similarities between this road, and the road her life has always taken. So forsaken her life has been, it seems. Sometimes, she can't believe she made it this far. She just never had the courage to finish what she always started!

She thinks of her family. She always does at times like these. She wonders what they would do if she took it all the way. Probably not much, she thinks. They are not close. They have never been. She sometimes misses that, that special bond with someone that she just knows she lacks. She figured that was one mistake her parents made as they grew up. Not giving them the special sense of belonging. Would they miss her? probably. She was a joy to have around. Always put smiles on everyone's face. Would they cry? Definately, it's only normal. Would they hate her for going off that way? Well, maybe, for a while. But she figures it would pass. Who says one can feel hate from so far? Would their lives go on? Probably, stigmatized for a while, maybe, but they would go on. Her family, they are strong. Would she miss them? She thinks she will, but she is not so sure if its allowed where she wishes to go. It has crossed her mind on and off for the last year. She has laughed about it with her friends. She laughs too much, so no one takes her seriously. But thats ok. A weird?exit would put cream on the cake!

The bus stops. She sits up worried. Thugs? No! Policemen. It's their routine to stop random buses and search passengers for guns. She sighs as she steps out of the car. She hadn't realized how tired she was. She takes her place on the queue with the other passengers, her bag on her back. She looks around and counts seven policemen. Great. Only one searching? The more doing the search means she gets home sooner. She sighs again. She looks up and sees one of them staring at her. She stubbornly stares back. Her eyes brighten. She clutches her bag tightly to her back, does a quick turn, and runs!

She heard the shots, felt the pain, heard the faint screams. Then, all was quiet.

The morning paper said she had a gun, and bag of marijuana in her bag. She had panicked when she was stopped by police, and had run. One paper said she tried shooting back. The police and the public celebrated. Another thug off the streets. She was just a girl on her way home from work. With a mission in mind.

After so many months of struggle, her mission was accomplished!

This is very powerful. It actually is perfect suicide. Having someone else do the killing for you because you are not strong enough to do it alone. Loved it

Thanks. Glad you like it. I think the suicide was pretty smooth too.

It takes alot to kill yourself. But it takes alot more to keep going. Thanks for the awesome read. Really liked it

Very powerful. It also reminds others of the things they don't have to go through everyday, that you do. I loved it.

Thanks Nita, glad you liked it.

Poor thing sounded so soft ...there must be some strong reason behind her act....I was upset because her death was 'misunderstood'...i am sure her family would have been 'in shock'....for what she did....

was the act 'perfect'?

The perfect part of the suicide was the fact that she didn't do it herself.
Leo Tolstoy once said the people who committed suicide were very courageous, coz though he contemplated doing it himself, he wasn't strong enough to do it to the end....same to the girl in the story. Only, finally...she committed suicide(something she had tried but had never been able to pull through)by letting the police finish it for her.
And in Kenya(and probably in other countries as well), most of the time police plant evidence on someone when they realize they were innocently killed....

I was a bit suicidal when I wrote this..and it was inspired after policemen stopped the bus I was in and searched us...and these thoughts ran through my head.

am ok now, thankfully.
