Did you know that you have superpowers? I'm not talking about flying, or super strength. I'm talking about powers you have mentally, spiritually, maybe even physically.

Let me start this off by saying I want to be as honest with this as I can, so try to understand where I'm coming at if necessary. To start this, I should probably explain what I mean by 'superpowers'. To me, superpowers are the things God gives us specifically for Him. You could call them spiritual gifts, you could call them talents, you could call it baloney. Ultimately, though, I've seen some interesting powers in my short life so far. I guess I should start with my superpower(s). My main power is that I can withstand anything. I've gone through plenty of emotional turmoil with my friends and life, physical injuries (but have never broken anything), and have been able to walk off anything else thrown against me. Even during these most unstable times, I have survived it all, and that is something I praise God with and for. Other powers I have are being really nice and trustworthy to complete strangers (here, could you hold my wallet for me while I tie my shoe?), being a good listener and giving friendly advice. My friends also have superpowers (I'll name them by the first letter of their name for privacy's sake). M has what we might call 'unending happiness'. It's very hard to get him to frown, and he can find a way to laugh at anything. What's more is that M's happiness is contagious to any witnesses, so simply having a good time outside for him could brighten up someone's day. B's power is an impressible faith. I don't know much about it, but her relationship with God seems full and progressive. She's also humble, encourages others and listens, like me. S's power is, once again like me, to be able to withstand anything the world can throw at her. She also holds great determination and passion in what she does. R, has a large sense of tolerance and patience for some things, while sometimes none for others. He's also quite a considerate and respecting person, so he can take high-tension situations fairly easy. J (this is the last one), is very smart and has a calm, collected view on things; he's a bit like R. So, what does any of this mean? Weren't you just listing positive characteristics of your friends and yourself? Those couldn't actually be superpowers. Well, have you ever watched shows like 'The Most Extreme' or read things like Ripley's Belive It or Not? The things they show are things found utterly amazing and abnormal. The same could be said for us humans. For example, some people can defy the laws of physics. I was watching a show that showed people breakdancing in slow motion, and unless my ears deceived me (which they often do), the people on the show said that it was "defying physics". If you look at it, you can't fully argue against it. These guys were also scientists of some sort, so I'm pretty sure we can say that humans possess powers that can't be entirely explained. Ultimately, it's up to you with what you do with your power, whether it be praising God, working for Him through it, working against Him with it, or just letting it collect dust. Like Uncle Ben said, "With great power, comes great responsibility." So whether you think this is a superpower you hold or not, you still have to make a call: how are you gonna use it?
