LITTLE SCARS

If I were to have you
All to myself, I think I would take you by the hand
Maybe I'd tell you
How easily you compel me
To melt in my skin
And maybe I'd tell you how
Your eyes look like stars
When we are only two breaths
Apart
Maybe I'd tell you how I only long to fall
As long as I'm sinking
Into your arms
And then nowhere else
At all

But when flesh meets flesh and skin meets
Porcelain skin
I would pull you closer, closer still
Every inch of me igniting
And savoring the grand unveiling
Of body and soul.
And when our clothes would collapse to the ground
Breathing a soft, contented sigh
I would endeavour to show you
My unbearable whys

Like why I am irreparably broken, but you tape me up
With sheepish smiles and starry eyes
I am a rusty engine running on
Your relentless love
And why I am anxious
For the coming months and plans
And the ruined days I know I can't fix
With my own hands

My endless whys would sit scattered
All across my skin
But in that moment, I wouldn't be able
To mind them as I do
I'd be too busy breathing you
In.
That is where I want you,
Always, all the time.

And if I were to see your little scars
Smiling at me upon your flesh
Maybe spread across your stomach and the soft skin
Of your chest
My fingertips would kiss them and smooth away
Your furrowed brows
And in my eyes maybe I'd tell you
What I cannot say out loud.

Your endless whys would sit scattered
All across your skin
But in that moment, I wouldn't dare bring myself
To care
I'd be too busy breathing you
In.
And this is where I want you,
Always,
All the time.
