IF I COULD WRITE A POEM

If I could write a poemI wonder what it'd say

Would it touch a special person in a very special way

Would it make them laugh or would it make them cry

Would it make them give up or would it make them try

Try to make the world a better place

Where people have a life worth living

Try to engage in the human race

Stop the greed have hearts for giving

Could my words be strong enough?

To lift those up when times are tough

Will my prose touch peoples hearts

Inspire some to make new starts

If I would only find the words that matter

Let them be for all a ladder

To do great things and soar great heights

Someday I'll find the words that might

Change the world one at a time

Then I could say those words were mine
