SOMEDAY I'LL WRITE A NOVEL

Poetry By: AFTERTHOUGHT
Poetry

After going through all of the various life experiences I always intended to write a novel. All of my friends and relatives have urged me to write a novel about my life and I have always intended to do just that but have never made the commitment.I'm sure your life contains a novel or 2 also that I'd enjoy reading someday..sooo "writers write".

SOMEDAY I'LL WRITE A NOVEL

LIFE IS SO FULL OF ADVENTURE WITH MANY TWISTS AND TURNS

FILLED WITH EXCITEMENT, LOVE, HATE, AND PASSION THAT BURNS

WHEN WE ARE YOUNG MINDS FILLED WITH JOY AND WONDER

AS WE GROW OLDER MORE PRESSURE WE'RE UNDER

WE'RE UNDER THE GUN UP AGAINST THE CLOCK

GOT TO GET TO WORK GOTTA BUST THAT ROCK

SOMEDAYS I'LL PUSH PAPER SOMEDAYS SHOVEL SHIT

ALWAYS HOLDING OUT HOPE THAT AHEAD WE WILL GET

BUT THE CHECK NEVER COMES TILL WE'RE LAID TO REST

WHAT DRIVES US THROUGH LIFE IS "GOOD, BETTER, BEST"

WE SHOUT AND WE SCREAM WORK HARD AND WE DREAM

SOMEDAY I'LLHAVE MONEY, SOMEDAY I'LL BE RICH

OR WIN THE LOTTERY BUT TIL THEN DIG THIS DITCH

I' VE LED AN INTERESTING LIFE WORKED ALL OVER THE PLACE

BUILT NETWORKS AND WEAPONS AS I JOINED THE RAT RACE

I HELPED BUILD UP THIS COUNTRY A NATION OF LAWS

AS I REALIZED WITH ALL I'VE DONE, I FOLLOWED NO CAUSE

BUT NOW THAT I'M OLDER MORE EXPERIENCED AND WISER

THIS COUNTRY'S NO DIFFERENT THAN GERMANY UNDER KAISER

INFLATION IS RAMPANT NO JOBS AND NO FUTURE

LEFT TO THE LAWMAKERS OUR CONSTITUTION THEY BUTCHER

WHEN WE WERE ALL CHILDREN AS EVERYONE KNOWS

WE COULD COUNT ON A SUMMER AND WINTER'S BIG SNOWS

BUT ALAS OUR WORLDS SLIPPING LIKE SAND THROUGH OUR HANDS

WE MUST STAND UP AND FACE THEM TO SAVE OUR GREAT LANDS

FOR OUR KIDS FOR THEIR FUTURE ALL GOOD PEOPLE MUST RISE

SEE THE TRUTH OF THE MATTER FLUSH AWAY ALL THE LIES

BRING OUR GREAT COUNTRY BACK TO THE PLACE IT DESERVES

HONOR THOSE GREAT MEN AND WOMEN THE NATION THEY SERVE

CLOSE CASINOS LIKE WALSTREET WITH OUR VERY LIVES THEY GAMBLE

FORGOTTEN BY POLITICIANS AND CONSUMERS THE CONSTITUTION'S PREAMBLE

WHILE "WE THE PEOPLE" A "MORE PERFECT UNION" HAVE SQUANDERED

IN THIS CAPITALISTIC DESERT FROM OUR IDEALS WE HAVE WANDERED

OUR FOUNDING FATHERS HAD IT RIGHT WITH SUPERIOR INTELLECT AND PRECISION INSIGHT

THEY LAID OUT A PLAN "ALL MEN CREATED EQUAL" CENTURIES LATER WE KNOW THEY WERE RIGHT

IF YOU WERE TO WRITE A CONSTITUTION TODAY I WONDER WHAT IT WOULD SAY

WOULD YOU RIGHT ALL THE WRONGS IN THE WORLD WE LIVE IN TODAY

WOULD WE HAVE THE SAME RIGHTS WHEATHER BLACK, WHITE, RED, OR GAY?

WOULD OUR HEALTH BE A RIGHT COULD WE SPEAK WHAT LIES IN OUR MIND?

COULD WE FEED AND FREE ALL THE PEOPLE BRING TOGETHER HUMANKIND?

CAN WE STILL SAVE THIS WORLD THIS BEAUTIFUL BLUE PLANET

OR SQUANDER IT ALL AS WE TAKE IT FOR GRANTED

I'M SORRY TO SAY THAT MY NOVEL MAY NEVER BE WRITTEN

I WASTED MY TIME, BY THE SYSTEM I'M SMITTEN

GOTTA STOP WRITING NOW OR I MAY MISS MY SHOW

LIKE YOU I'LL DO NOTHING TO STOP ALL THE WRONGS THAT I KNOW.
