Yes, oh yes, my favorite things.
I trace a finger down this list,
my heartbeat increasing with every
caress of the wishful words,
anticipation swelling in my breast.

Death awaits, contained within my lack.
I clutch my hand to my heart,
heavy beating pulses
beneath my spread fingers.
Warily, I hold my breath,
waiting for the end

My cheeks flush pink,
lungs screaming within me
of my death,
its final coming,
my last moments

A steady hand slaps my back.
A gasp. I’m alive,
so alive, thankfully alive.
I look into dark eyes,
the flickers of fright remains,
anger flashing,
sudden.

Question.
What have I done so wrong?
Where has this anger come from?
I shake my head, confused.
The words spill out,
spittle from a red face

What is wrong with you?

What is wrong with me
he asks,
fury emanating from his frame.
He clasps my wishes,
paper in his hands,
crumpling my deepest desires
within the pressure of his fingers

I look towards the floor,
the paper in a neat ball.
I am contented
gazing up at this man,
a smile playing on my face
“I think I shall take a walk.”

I notice no one who stares,
walking unperturbed
through the alerted room,
eyes all on me.

I think I shall discover the universe
for the very first time.

Well, thank you! I really appreciate it.

wow intresting and unique! I liked it, but I am slightly confused. Explain to me, what happend exactly? An argument between a couple?

It is well done though, very intriguing.

No, it's not a couple's argument. It's a person so wrapped up in the things they wish they could have, that they're suffocating themselves without them. A man takes notice and slaps them on the back to get air, crumpling up their desires when he realizes there was no emergency. With no desires keeping the person from enjoying life, they begin to do so.

hi! aislin. u've escaped the clutches of death. it must be new birth and a new view of the world. it reads like a rebirth at the fag end. i always wondered, if v die in this world, v live in another world (of god). a part of this poem made me think of that. overall a good read. lol. ;-)
