Painting with Memories

A Poem for Irish wolf Hound's Shadows in Shadows Competition

Scars the shape of hearts cascading down your neck
The will to keep on going no longer seems sane
Memories are all you have, but you'll keep fighting yet
Because you know inside your unhuman soul, you haven't given in.

Let the night sky be your backdrop, let the stars ignite your heart
Because everything will be worth it, once you get back to the start
Let your bad days be your yellow paint, let your good be only your gold
Let the darkness of the dome above take your colours and then hold

Watch the angels throw downs their halos, pretty crimson paints the floor
Watch brothers turn on brothers, for they can't bear it anymore.
The snow white wings of the dove, as black as impending doom,
because painting with memories, was all the world ever gave to you

Tears the shape of butterflies are falling to the ground,
Your fight between giving up or going on is no longer as sound
They whisper your name at night, just like they always do
But you know in your unhuman soul, the world was cruel to you.
