He sits outside their world, looking in;
Looking at those he once called kin.
He's been rejected, abandoned by those he knew.
Once the Alpha, he is recognized, now, by only a few.
He has been denied his fate.
Reviled, now, by those that only know hate.
He turns away, searching for a new destiny.
Something, anything, so as to not seem so fragile, so tiny.
Especially to this one who's lonely song is singing.
Never again to run with the pack,
He must accept this fact.
One foot in front of the next, he walks.
Then, one that was not his comes to him--and he halts.
She, too, has been alone,
Abandoned by her clan and home.
Together they walk, accepted by none,
Toward the setting of their lives' sun.
