It was a bleak and long December,
But underneath the snow there's grass.
Spring will come straight round the corner.
As long as you let Winter pass.

Thanks. Yeah I though I'd start off with the easy to digest metaphors

Hello Alex :)

I like your short to the point style of poetry. Its refreshing seeing as how you can cram so much imagery and meaning into a small space. You definitely have a talent man.

Your metaphor is very poignant and effective. Great job!

Cheers. I tend to prefer writing short poems that give a simple message, as I particularly like the style that Emily Dickinson uses so well.

Ooh, I get it! Without having to take a time to figure it out, no less. I like that. :D And its all happy-like, which I also like. And it rhymed too! I fail to see how this could be any better. ^__^

haha, well things are best kept simple sometimes :)

Lovely! I just love poetry with the subject use of beautiful nature. Short and simple, but impowering. Good job, can't wait to read more of your poetry! =)

Thanks. I try to be selective about my poetry, as it's far too easy to go on depressive rants half the time.

So, you like Emily Dickinson's style too. The first thing that i've known about her was: She was born in Amherst, lived in Amherst and died in Amherst. That intrigued me plus, she was a private poet. ^^

Your poem, though short, is juicy. Metaphors do create vivid images. ^^

Yes, that is one of the most intriguing things about Emily Dickinson, she wasn't one to be in the public eye, hardly leaving her room at one point. And thanks for the poem comments, glad you liked it :)

I like this. It's short yet in its compactness has a great meaning.
