The smile that first captivated me so long ago

I want to once again hear your soft voice

The voice that was as soft as a whisper

 

I still remember the first time I saw you,

The first time I spoke to you, when I first fell in love with you

Each time I was so nervous, so scared

I would do anything to relive those moments

 

To once again feel the rush of life

The uncertainty of it all

The danger of a broken heart

The swallowing of one’s pride and the risk of losing everything

 

The excitement of that first kiss

Followed by that long pause

And that dreadful goodbye

Then that unbearable urge to see you again

 

The sleepless nights

The endless wondering

The impatient mind needing to know you feel the same

And being scared the death that you didn’t

 

These moments are horrible and great

And in these moments we find fear and love...
