Anch'io

Poetry By: anchio

The title of this is the same as my pen name, which is the italian for "Me too!". I wrote this after I moved country, and I could see my friends moving on without me, and all I wanted to do was to call after them. I could also see myself growing into someone I wasn't and all I wanted to do was change myself.

Do not forget me,

Or leave me behind.

The memories you may take,

But your footprints will remain.

As your life moves on,

I watch, in your wake.

Your laughter, mocking my tears.

While regrets choke at my voice.

Your new creation,

Taunts my every wish

Of what I wanted to be.

I now see, a hollow dream.

Do not forget me,

Or leave me behind.

The memories you may take,

But your footprints will remain.
