Paint the Sky with Stars

Poetry By: Angie Blake

This poem was chosen as a winner of a contest. A publishing company was publishing a book on all the poems that were written after the tsunami. My poem won the contest and got put on the front cover of the book. Since then the publishing company has gone out of business. I think it's okay to put it back in publication by now.
I wrote it in the year 2000.

The Sky saw the Ocean

and looked on with such fright

How could that Ocean

take so many in one single swipe!?!

'I may not have power,'

thought the saddened Sky,

'But I do have feelings

and for these people I'll cry'.

The Sky shed hundreds

and thousand of tears that frightful night,

For every tear that sky did cry

a star shined so bright.

He wanted each of their families

to remember their love,

For all the dying souls

a star would shine above.

Stars like their memories

will never fade away,

At night time you can see

them with each passing day.

With that thought in mind

the Sky cried it's last tear,

The brightest star of all

the star of Hope did appear.

The Sky looked around

He saw near, he saw far,

He couldn't believe how he

painted the sky with stars!
