Hi AT. The first thing that came to mind when reading was "Don't hate me because I'm beautiful". Maybe because the first line is so romantic but quickly everything falls apart. What a potent writing. Do we ever really know our neighbours? I mean people change so often that once we know them, do we watch their change or just slowly adapt to who they've become without realization that they've changed.
I say that in reference to child rearing. We change ourselves once we become parents. We keep changing over years and thus, do we ever really know, even ourselves? What was once considered a travesty slowly measures out to be not so bad as times change. Neighbours clasping hands .... I might be a bit cynical here this morning. But, all this provoked out of me in your seven lines.
You should have submitted this poetry into your competition rather than Ebony Exotica. what think?
