In my mind

a glorious wild creature

wrenched from its native haunts

resigned to the placebo

lonely listless lost beyond caring

is caged

In my mind’s cage

are one hundred leaping chimpanzees

imitating you

cheeky clever clones

doing what is expected

amusing you, scaring you

deadpan eyes

mocking you

What do you see?

What do I ?

In my minds cage

is a butterfly enclosure

violent and delicate

luminous heat colour gentle exotic

beautiful beyond expectation

butterfly wings so soft

they drift tremble tease

in and around you

sporadically startle you with their nearness

hover on your shoulder

hold your breath

In my minds cage

pace one thousand restless tigers

angry prowling watchful waiting

when you least expect it

glimpse an escape route

ruthless pounce bowl you over

fleeting rush to freedom

speed agility grace ferocity

command you take notice

listen to the roar

In my minds cage

I still seek a whiteboard

wash away the wearisome

imprisoned, ineffectual being

the chimpanzee human fool

the blinding, quavering butterfly enclosure

the tigers’ dubious arousal and flight

the brilliant imaginings, the murky nightmares

the words twitchily hammering

pleading to be made sense of

the trillion

vexing voices that never sleep

in my minds cage

Strange place to be, the mind, you can get lost in there and never come out again. Intresting poem, short, punchy, exploring a lot of ideas, feelings and emotions. Just as a poem should be.

I see that there's a lot things in you mind , but what i like most in your mind it is that you are not a prejudice one . Good Poem .

Definitely no prejudice Jbortti, thanks for comment.

AT...this is wonderful. I love all the words and their placement.
Fav: In my minds cage
pace one thousand restless tigers
angry prowling watchful waiting
when you least expect it
glimpse an escape route

But it's all my favourite, exciting from a tiger to a butterfly. Incredibly inventive.

Amazing what one can drum up in their minds on sleepless nights! I tried to leave a comment on that sizzling story this morning but booksie yet again decided to drop out! It was very, very good!

Realy like this poem.

The mind is a seriously strange place to vist, nice once but you dont want to live there.

It shows the conflict and mixed messages that we all seem to carry round in our heads.

very well written, loved the butterflys..

Peace

Glad you liked it Boneman - by the way trying to outrun can have pitfalls, better to heave over the cliff if you can. And you will - have faith and hope.

Very well written. My mind is not such a good place to stay in sometimes. You definitely showed a lot that goes on in our crazy minds!

Thanks MA, what goes on in there never leaves us alone!

Well done, Anna! In my 'mind', you were able to capture the complexities of the mind without the poem becoming too complex... if you can make sense of what I'm attempting to say! Have a happy day.....Jerry

Thanks Jerry, I agree we could really go overboard with the concept.

Hmmm, fine.

Is the hmmmm a questioning fine Gojkov? There is such a thing as poetics license used here to make the minds rumblings huger!

Its a good poem i liked it ^_^

Wow, i dont think i ever took the time to read your work so now i feel shameful. This was really surreal and yet you could touch what was presented. The butterflies, the tigers, the chumpanzees. Our minds have everything we could need, we just tend to favour a certain cage hahah.
Very interesting piece of work, too much to be said about the mind hahaha. Wonderful!

Thank you kind Sir Lonheart. No need to be ashamed, some of us are very busy writing with little time to read - I confess to join that band. Glad you liked this poem.

Frankie thanks for reading this one and great comment, I have a soft spot for it.

Add my accolades to those who have gone before. I think I can see a definite advantage to having butterflies and tigers as opposed to rats. Very good work, thank you for the opportunity. rainy

I still liked the rats though rainyman. Thanks for reading and comment.
