Lavender, me, lavender, blue

Poem By: Anna Therese
Poetry

I had the most delightful “chore” yesterday – harvesting and gathering my lavender! I can only tell you how delicious and fresh, beautiful and colourful was my labour of love in the following three haiku. View table of contents...

Lavender harvest
Sweetness loiters on the breeze
Blue spun in bunches
************
Lavender soft sky
Echoes fragrant blue flowers
Caressing my arms
************
Lavender and lace
Big old pots by the fireplace
Delicate blue grace
************

Thanks Reaper, It was a really relaxing, "take the stress away" Sunday afternon job that wasn't really a job. And as I was working my mind was writing as usual!!

What an absoutely lovely trio of haikus, Anna!!! I've always loved lavender... now more than ever! You have convinced me to plant some this year so that I will have it every year from now on. Peace and love.....Jerry

Moonwitch thanks for lovely comment. The scent of freshly picked lavender is a pleasure in this world not to be under rated.

OH BOY! I knew this would be good!!!

Thankyou Anna, I really got good feelings through this trio of sweeping beautys.

I like that word 'sweeping' eric used it up there and i thought it fit so well :-)

Air I'm glad your expectations about these haikus didn't reap dissappointment! I also love the word sweeping. Strangely enough the first haiku took a bit of working on but once on paper the other two followed so easily.

Anna lavender has its own smell of freshness i truely loved this you expressed it so well....Til Later :) Juliet

Thanks so much Jborrti. I think too we must savour the pleasure of such simple things when life is so much about rush and material things.

short and simple but absolutely beautiful!! i'm usually not one too fond of short poems, however this is amazing! its so sweet and light and just lovely! excellent work and well done. you painted this breathtaking picture with only a few words. once again, just downright beautiful!

Alice thanks so much. I read a very short poem last night. Unfortunately I can't recall the author - alas it wasn't me..the poem read something like (darn, forgotten the exact wording too!)
Tonight I eat alone
My alphabet soup
speaks to me.
So few words that say so much! I think too Alice the haiku form can produce some wonderful images to stimulate the senses - have you read those of Jerry (Gerabel), he has captured the art well.
Well sorry to ramble on - must be one of my longer replies! (so much for being succinct) Appreciate you lovely comment.

Well well well...I just realized that all your poetry sparks a memory for me....and isn't that what a great poet yearns? (a let me show you feeling).

For years I had lavender growing just outside my bedroom window and would wake up each morning (in summer) pleasantly in love with the fragrance.

Sigh.
Yet beautiful.

Thanks for sweet comment and glad my poem sent you down memory lane. I have your latest story saved and I hope to read it tomorrow! (for tonight just responding to comments and reading smaller writings - perhaps?)

Anna Therese:

Fancifully well written, expressed and presented. Liked the use of color. Gave it an "I Like It" vote.

Happy trails,

Ed Bradley.

Thanks so much Ed for finding time to read and comment. I thought the colour usage was fine although lavender blue is almost a cliche.

Oh, this was beautiful. I love Haiku and this was great. I can almost smell the lavender from reading it.

Buttercup what a lovely comment, especially as I am still "learning" the true haiku art.

Ahhhh!
My second favorite flower!! (First is the gardenia)!! I absolutely love the poem. I can feel the softness in my hands as I read, and can literally smell it all around me.

Yes gardenias are stunning - I love a beautiful rose too! My garden has many flowers though the azaleas have died in the drought.

"Lavender soft sky
Echoes fragrant blue flowers
Caressing my arms"

EVEN I LOVED IT.........

Honestly liked it....

I am glad you liked it Prathibha - you have been so generous to spend the time to read so many of my poems. A true inspiration set of haiku I so enjoyed penning.

Hi AT! Nope, I still see Lavender on your page...was this what you were referring to? In all it's splendid aromatic beauty.
