What do you do when you go to the library?

I love people at the library

Some so focused on their intentions

They barely murmur when

You push past them in the Sci-Fi.

Other with their antennae out

For hot chicks, for cute guys

Idly thumbing through magazines.

And someone’s grandfather

Buried in the news tribune

Just looking for a little peace.

A teenager behind a computer screen

Totally bored with school.

Picking zits and the library

Are not as incompatible as they seem.

The librarians, people too,

So efficient, answering questions,

Checking books and movies out.

And children, finding delight in books

We have mostly lost.

And myself, hopeful among the CDs

Looking for what?

I guess I haven’t found it yet.

You either.

You either.
