Reflections

Heart beating to the rhythm of thoughts,

Eyes twinkling on the walk home,

Labored breathing in the chilled night,

Sky above crying the snow.

Legs moving faster to get inside,

Arms throwing off a coat,

Feet kicking shoes across the room,

Heater trying its best to work.

Hands underwater covered in soap,

Ears listening for a familiar sound,

Nose itching for it to be blown,

Water making whirlpools in the sink.

Tears forming as we say goodnight,

Mouth whispering 'I love you too',

Body lying under warm blankets,

Darkness taking over as thoughts come to a rest.
