Sweet little feathers locked in a cage
Desperate to fly free, this life is a daze.
All I have to do is look through the metal bars
And imagine a life free of being free from harm.
What joy exists without danger,
Hate, stressors, or anger?
What pleasure is there in a life filled with nothing?
What I wouldn't give just to have my life mean something.
I wish I could just fly away,
Leave this cage and for once see the light of day.
I see the lock on the cage I am within,
A lock with no key--here forever I am hidden.
My lungs are unable to fill with air;
There is never enough room for myself and I to share.
I watch all other things living free,
How I desperately wish that could be me.
I wish I could just fly away,
Leave this cage and for once see the light of day.
