Emotions

By: Joe Attanasio

We all have emotion,

It is the human way.

Some get the notion,

They are best kept at bay.

Joy is the easy one,

Enjoyed naturally.

Sad we would like to shun,

Who would not agree.

Anger is so violent,

It shakes our every thought.

Frustration we keep quiet,

Only peace is sought.

Fear overcomes us,

Makes us cower or run.

Surprise awakens us,

Shocking or for fun.

Disgust can make us churn,

Revolting to our spirit.

Trust we have to learn,

As we become close knit.

Remorse is sadness and,

Disgust together.

Contempt is anger and

Disgust so tethered.

Disappointment comes from,

Sadness and surprise.

Love is when joy and trust come,

And your heart forever flies.

Women embrace emotion,

Every one in stride.

Men have the notion,

They should always hide.

Poets use emotion,

To make their stories felt.

Putting thoughts in motion,

To make our barriers melt.
