Dread
By: Joe Attanasio
Some people live with a dread
That is firmly stuck in their head
A worry of impending doom
Every day, the threat of gloom
Whatever can go wrong, will go wrong
Fills them like a haunting song
Their life is clouded by worry
Their future all blurry
For every good thing, there is two bad
This thought the have always had
When anything bad happens at all
They wait for the other shoe to fall
If they get even a half good day
Sure as hell, they are going to pay
The night is darkest just before dawn
And daybreak is forever gone
They never let themselves be happy
Their life is spent feeling crappy
Hope is not a word they know
Their life is filled with woe
They live their life so defeated
Of happiness they have been cheated
Happy thoughts they want to ditch
Because payback is a bitch!
