Words and Rhymes
By: Joe Attanasio
Words are really so much fun
Often meanings more than one
One word the record won
That is a little word called RUN
A tear in a stocking is called a run
A political candidate must run
In a foot race we always run
I am not even close to done
Colors in the wash do run
Five cards in a row is a run
How long does the movie run
Still many more, I’ve just begun
Writing this poem I have “free run”
Like a wild vine can run
My car motor can also run
How many more can be spun
Between two stops is a train’s run
An infected wound can run
Into trouble I can run
I still have a ton
A size or price range is how they run
A risk you sometimes run
To pass a blockade you must have a run
I hope I can keep going, I’m under the gun
A felon on bail might make a run
To manage a business it to make it run
The distance covered when running is a run
The possibilities in my head have spun
An enclosed area for a pet is a run
Scoring a point in baseball is a run
The defensive line must stop the run
Don’t worry I will forget at least one
An unbroken series of events is a run
A computer program needs to be run
In confusion amok we might run
For your comments I will save some
Out of breath, I won’t run
Interest rates from 5 to 6 will run
Before posting, through this I will run
Forty line rhyme is also done
