dark flight

Poetry By: Audrey Wilson

My third poem, this time it has a sad theme to it.

Darkness surrounds me,

Shadows curl around the trees,

And the night sky is blank, blank as a white sheet of paper,

But that paper is no longer white, but black,

Black as is my mind,

Black as in my thoughts,

And sadness clouds the blackness and makes it grow,

So that I can hardly hold it and it is numb,

What had happened before stained my memories,

They are like wine, not water,

For they damage and will not go away,

And they will not pass and simply evaporate,

And they make voices scream in my head,

"No, no, we will not go!"

And as long as they do not go,

My happiness will not grow,

And I will fall back as if to die,

But only start to cry,

And I ask myself,

What is the point of living,

When I can not walk away from this?

And I feel like I should fly away,

Fly away from this life,

Fly away from the sadness,

Like a bird,

In heavenly flight
