Friendship and Wisdom

I recently discovered a truth I never knew;

Found only by chance; by chance I met you.

Sharing words of comfort; offering a needed hand;

someone who has been there, able to understand.

Now I can begin to accept who I really want to be;

To lay down defenses that kept me from being me.

Far to go; at least there is hope of forgiving grace;

I now have a foundation; to build a brighter place.

Accepting who I am; letting go of all the guilt and pain;

I have nothing to lose and now have everything to gain.

For this revelation of truth; I have to thank you today;

In the only way I can; by writing down all I want to say.

You’ll know who you are; no need for offering up a name;

Just know instead of a spark of light, you havelit a flame.

Burning in my spirit; this flame will continue to light the way;

Not the person I want to be as yet; but I’ll get there one day.
