Weary traveler on the road to nowhere;
burden laden with no one around to care.
Heavy feet upon cold hard gravel ground;
he stares forward no refuge to be found.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Desolate road where no wild flowers grow;
no green fields nor streams of water flow.
Road of life left him hollow barren ground;
he wanders endlessly without a sound.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
His heart laments the sorrow in his eyes;
now cast down, instead of up to the skies.
Many valleys he’s traveled through thus far;
loves won and lost have left a lasting scar.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
An island in himself; with no bridge to cross;
taking him to place, where he forgets his loss.
Memories all that’s left, of the mountain peek;
where he stood so proud; his fortunes to seek.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
One wrong turn, led him to this path now on;
now all he sought and won is forever gone.
Penitence for his greed;life of lonely travel;
on an endless road; made of stone and gravel.
