From up above me came a clattering sound;
as if pots and pans dropped upon the ground.
What could it be; making noises such as this?
I must go to see; and find out what’s amiss.
Climbing attic stairs; not knowing of the find;
awaiting me once arrived; up the stairs I wind.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Swinging the door wide open; I switch on the light;
I take a look around; see nothing to give fright.
Nothing touched; no objects that have tumbled;
Turning off the light; returning to rest I mumbled.
Relaxing in my bed again; fluffing pillow so to sleep;
I hear a groaning sound; mournful; its tone is deep.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Now heart flutters; as beats pick up to frantic pace;
Do I want to go back there; perhaps to see its face?
No human makes this sound; I’m sure it to be true.
What if a spirit awaits me ; whatever would I do?
I instead; remain in bed; maybe it'll go away.
If not it take leave; better I look in light of day.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Good fortune not my friend; again came the groans;
louder and more persistent; till I felt it in my bones.
No sleep for me this night; till I ascend the stairs once more;
facing whatever’s there; with trembling hands I open door.
I reach for light; something stops me; a touch of chilling hand;
grabbing mine within its grip; my mind reeling to understand.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
My scream is choked; legs won’t move; fright takes over me;
What is this demonic thing; I squint both my eyes to see.
From dimmest light from below; I make out a hollow face.
My fear comes true; he’s taking me; to some ungodly place!
It’s just then I hear; familiar sound; my alarm clock rings;
Dreams sure can conjure up; strange and frightening things!
HAPPY HALLOWEEN TO ALL MY BOOKSIE FRIENDS!!!!
