Yearning for the Sea

Poetry By: Ava Rosien

Tags: Poem, Sea

I grew up only a short distance from the ocean. I spent many summers along Carolina Beach and Myrtle Beach. In the winter months I long to be at the the beach again.

The sea calls me in the winter time;

memories of sand and sun sublime.

Seagulls overhead the winds to ride;

emerald waters move on restless tide.

Waves washing over sandy beach;

small creatures scurry out of reach.

Sun bakes the body golden brown;

seashells treasures on the ground.

Sky meets ocean; an optical allusion;

mysteries of sea offer no conclusion.

asiren's sultry voice; soft lullaby it sings;

Rhythms of the sea; played on fluid strings.

On this winter day; I long for sea's allure;

it's symphony played again; sweetly pure.

Bare feet pressing on wet sandy beach;

just a memory; its shores I cannot reach.
