War Inside Your Head

Poetry By: Ayla Daniels

Fear is a kind of poison

Frozen knuckles on your door

Am I just imagining it or

Is this where the road meets it's bend?

Or is it where we greet our end?

Trying to move but too distraught

Brain so twisted, drowned, and wrought

The outcome always is the same

But reality is something too insane

Canons firing in your mind

Your own thoughts have you confined

An endless war inside your head

This is where your fear has lead

Could this be a friendly face?

Surely that can't be the case

So you just cringe and hug your frame

Much too tired to play this game

All the while, standing outside

Your mother waits to come inside

Her entire life has gone askew

She knows your fear's consuming you
