HOPE is a flower that only blooms in adversity and strife,

it does not need the Sun to shine nor rain to give it life,

pain and regret, loss and self doubt are what keep it alive,

faith is the ground it stands upon only belief can make it thrive.

It is like a fire that may be drowned, but in embers it will live,

no matter how much one takes from it, it always has more to give,

For this one truth canot be touched by the ravenous wolves of hate,

That HOPE may seem to be so weak yet it can conquer fate.

Thank you so much, i am so glad you think i am improving for to not grow is my biggest fear.

Very good sentiment and execution. It makes one think about hope, faith, beleif. . .
I like to think, so thank you.
If I could offer only one criticism: Line 6, "it, it" seems awkward to me. Perhaps change to "it, HOPE" -- just a suggestion.
Hope I'm not nit-picking; you know I have my own nits to deal with. LOL.

Thankyou.

I enjoyed all the images you put in my head. I saw hope as a seed in a child that has a dream. Not requiring extravagant living conditions. The people telling them it is impossible to complete their dream. This little child could have the dream and fate to set out on a journey before him to bring hope to all. Loved the work you did really powerful writing.

Thank you for ur kind comment, i am glad you liked the poem.

All right. I have now found time to read your poetry and once again - sorry it took me so long. Also, another reason why I put it off was because I wanted to leave you good feedback. You mentioned that you've seen some of my comments and some of them I go in depth with. I wanted to do that with your poetry. I read one of your poems when you first stopped by and I was speechless. I honestly couldn't think of anything to say XD
But today I seem to be in a in-depth mood. So here I go:

First and foremost - I absolutely adore this poem.
Secondly - I loved the comparisons you made with hope. First it was a flower that blooms in only certain conditions, which the conditions you described "adversity" and "strife" were perfection because it is indeed those times that hope is at its strongest. And then you went on to make the analogy of hope to fire. My jaw dropped at this point because the way you worded it "It is like a fire that may be drowned, but in embers it will live" the last part of that line was lovely. I couldn't think of a better way to phrase it! And then for some reason that made me think of the burning bush that Moses saw... how it kept burning and yes, it symbolized God, and God gives us hope. So that made me even more awe-struck XD
And then comes that last line - score! a homerun!

"That HOPE may seem to be so weak yet it can conquer fate"
- when you are about to give up, when you are on your knees, when life is rough and you are falling apart and breaking on the inside, hope will come and it can conquer anything and above all - fate! it can change the way things were supposed to be. with a little hope, faith, and perserverance (sp?) then you can rise above the strife ^^

once again - i absolutely adore this poem and i think you wrote it beautifully. there were some great clips of imagery and serveral memorable lines.
it was a brilliant and breathtaking read!
you are quite the talented one :)

Hello,
Thank you so much Alice for that wonderful comment, the wait was well worth it LOL. I can only express my sincere and heartfelt regards to you after receiving such amazing encouragement. I am so thankful to have someone as talented as you praise my work so wholeheartedly. And i am also so happy that you could find so many meanings in my simple little poem, you cant imagine how good it made me feel to hear you talk of MOSES and parallels between my line and the burning bush although i feel i should tell you that as the writer that is not what i thought about, but i loved that you could infer ur own meaning from my words. That my dear is the whole purpose of my poems, i want them to belong in some way to whoever reads them, i want my readers to glimpse a shadow of their own experiences in my poetry, and ur words made me feel like i achieved that to a small degree. THANX.

hi! azmat. if one had everything in life, s/he wouldn't want anything, thereby negating the need for "hope". but a majority survives on hope. and this is where ur poem assumes significance.

hope survives in a poor (wo)man's heart whereas rich'll never be found hoping for they've everything. so there is an entire 'class' difference.

now that i'm mulling over it, i remember king's quote that aptly sums up ur poem: "we must accept finite disappointment but never lose infinite hope."

let the fire burn. let the destiny be conquered. for there is eternal hope. for the man is still alive. ;-)
