''Pheonix''

Poem By: Azmat Shah
Poetry

This poem is dedicated to all those people out there who are living through pain and fear. This one goes out to all those people who are standing up for themselves. Believe me I know how you feel because i myself have been to hell and back in the last couple of MONTHS and I just want to say that the human spirit has the power to persevere through any difficulty, JUST DONT GIVE UP. GOD ONLY HELPS THOSE WHO HELP THEMSELVES! View table of contents...

Rise up just like a pheonix from the ashes of your soul,

An island in the midst of life can not resist its flow,

Not every struggle leads to success, offtimes loss is one's fate,

The nectar of life is seldom sweet, it is bitter to the taste.

Believe me when I say my dear it is better to fight than not,

Salvation is not in the victory it lives within your heart,

Dont pray for things that can not be had and then blame God for your fate,

Release your spirit from its servitude of endless cloying hate.

Stop searching for your true reflection in broken shards of glass,

Stop listening to what others say just listen to yourself,

So what if life wont bow to your whims, so what if it is cruel,

A stronger opponant surely makes for a very thrilling duel.

Azmat! So good to have you back on the block! And with such a wonderful poem as this! (I know, I'm using way too many exclamation marks, but then I AM rather excited!)

This is just a quick note to tell you that I really liked this poem - it is uplifting, spirited, and means extra special to me since it represents something that I have stood for all my life.

Will be back later this weekend.

Azmat....why do I always have stronger opponents? Why Azzie why? *peach sobs.

I've proven this to myself quite a few times in life, the horrible part is it is so scary at the beginning but as your feel yourself rising you wonder why you ever had fear.

I actually think I may print this one off and keep it close Azzie. *peach wipes her brow in reflection on life.

K. I was thrilled to see your name in my email inbox this morning. Certainly missed you. Hope you're exceeding your expectations of yourself.

Hello again Azmat,

Thank-you for asking me to read your Poem. I wouldn't presume to critique any of your work, there are others on Booksie far more able than I.

However, I am relieved to see that you are looking forward and I have no doubt that you will succeed in whatever you choose.

My first thought on reading your profile when I joined Booksie, was, "This person (you read like a woman most of the time, though I was not sure when you critiqued another's work) really needs to get away to a freer and more open culture" I didn't have anywhere particular in mind.

I think that you have made a good choice (except for the weather)and I look forward to hearing how you get on.

It is nice to see the "three sisters" all more or less back on track and contibuting to Booksie.

If you can find the time, would you take a look at the work of Balaji Iyer ? I am sure that it would help in more ways than one.

Kind regards,
Susan (Nonna)

I love your poem and your inspiring comment. Opression in whatever form is so difficult to conquer. Some of us are more sensitive and a target for the "bully", in some countries there is inequality that is difficult to rise from - some people never heard God say to treat everyone equally, por, rich, black, white, me, women... anyway I like your message in poem, letting us know it is the struggle and never giving up that is important even if ultimately you never get there. It is the hope and the trying that is important. Good poem.

Thanx, how right you are. But as long as there are insecure people in this world there will be bullies. I have often noticed that the bullies are often people who are insecure and unsure about themsekves as people so they feign confidence and aggressiveness to find an outlet for their own frustrations.

Sorry for typos above, particularly poor and men (not me!)

I love this piece a lot Azmat. It speaks volumes and is a real message of hope. my favourite lines were..

Interesting piece Azmat... I really appreciate the thought wherein it says Salvation is in your heart and not in victory... sure thing. Lovely capture. Unless this is used as a mask to viel inaction... it makes real sense.

Amazing resolve and spine displayed here... shows it is not so much the victory lap... but the honest attempt and sweat that mean much more... for every drop of sweat... somewhere justice is brewing.

Thank you for that wonderful comment. You have captured the essence of my poem. I love it when people read between the lines LOL.

Dont pray for things that can not be had and then blame God for your fate,

SO TRUE...and I LOVED THIS LINE....

GOD is there, HE is watching and all we have to do is just FIND OUR OWN NICHE....right??

WELCOME BCK SWEETY....I will also slowly crawl back...down with FLU again and hence the delay...sorry....but then 'better late than never'...right???

I hope you feel better soon babe. Thanx for the welcome, i am so happy to be back LOL.

Hello Azmat, Your poem was most enjoyable and so true! "Salvation is not in the victory, it lives within your heart". You do have to look inside your heart and find oneself before you can ever rise from the ashes and release your spirit from servitude. I really liked this poem as it gave me a very wonderful feeling deep down inside.

Thank you so very much!

Hello Again Azmat, I know that you wrote this poem for those that are less fortunate and are going through and experiencing difficulty and pain in their everyday lives.

I am commenting on my previous comment. I just didn't want to sound crass or insensitive when, I said that it gave me a wonderful feeling deep down inside. I just got this feeling, knowing that it is totally possible for one to rise above the ashes if one so desires.

Thanks again!
