Sanity's edge

Poem By: Azmat Shah

this is just something i wrote on the spur of the moment. It deals with depression and hopelessness. View table of contents...

I stand alone atop sanity's edge,

Emotions veering from hope to dread,

Sometimes they call, voices soft and measured,

Alas my wordly link has long been severed.

The world I see accross the great divide,

Beseeches me to come to its side.

The bridge I used has long since gone

I can not move, I stand alone.

I like the simplistic style and rhythm scheme. Your words are moving and touch on emotions that I think a lot of us can relate to at some point in our lives. Short and (bitter)sweet.

Thankyou,
the main aim of my poetry is to write poetry that is personal for me but is also relevent for my readers. I want them to connect with my poems, and your kind comment makes me feel like i achieved that to some extent.

Your poetry is very dark.

This one is perfect.

Thank you, i am glad you liked it LOL.

Second work I have read.
Much much better. Simple and elegant.
The odd tinsy stumble but other than that superb.
I love the simplicity of the language. Not many bells and whistles, rare and stylish.

Weldone.

Thankyou so much. You know i am almost jumping in my seat. So glad you liked something and it was not a wasted journey LOL.

I think my favorite thing about this is the mental imagery. So descriptive and still so emotional.
