Road through Life

Behind you stretches

the road with life's

futile casualties,

forgotten by all but

The unreal dreams,

carried for too long

in your backpack filled

at too young an age

to be of any use

in situations you'd encounter

without dealing with them for

once and for all.

Ahead of you stretches

the already tarnished tarmac;

shimmering with an oily sheen

in the dry heat of

your desert future with

the occasional

junction you will ignore;

signposted with warnings

for everyone else but

A luring trip into

the hazy distance,

towards an unknown,

yet familiar
