a promise you once made--
our love was one that couldn't fall
and wouldn't ever fade.
Of all the lies you told to me,
it's one I can't evade.
more than just a memory.
What little joy your memory brings
We're broken but we can't break free
so find your own way out.
I wonder how I thought we'd be
more than just a memory.
on reflection, that's a lie.
Nothing's perfect in this section
of the world we watch go by.
How many things could we not see
while we stood eye to eye?
I can't believe I thought we'd be
more than just a memory.
to dive alone or drown
in things remembered on a whim
that work to pull us down.
We are drifting on a frozen sea,
too cold to laugh or frown.
I don't know why I thought we'd be
more than just a memory.
but forever lasts a while.
We must choose, to cling or sever,
stand alone or stand on trial--
but I know that when you think of me,
you'll do it with a smile.
For now I see, we'll never be
