Omagh 98

Poem By: boneman
Poetry

A very short poem about the terorist atrocites in Northern Ireland, sadly this poem is just as relevent in todays world.

This is not meant to be a political poem in anyway just a forlorn cry for peace and tolerance on all sides of any conflict. View table of contents...

Omagh 1998

I heard the news on Sunday

From the BBC

I saw the film on Monday

Shown by the BBC

I listened to their rhetoric

Their colours orange and green

But I heard someone say

Their blood was always red.....

i like this poem. it shows the futility of war and terrorism. too many innocemt people get in killed in the name of god, whichever one you believe in. blood is the same colour no matter what race religion or creed you are and one person getting killed for their beliefs is one too many. and as i am not a particular believer why would some such benevolent all loving being let so many people be killed in his name. sorry rant finished.

Thank you Snow.

War and terrorism is futile and too often the word of religon is used to brainwash people into commiting atrocities.

I also have problems with a God who can allow people to be slaughtered in his name.

In the current war both religions are based on peace, love and tolerance. Perhaps if we took time to understand each others beliefs whether you believe or not the world could be a more peaceful place and no one would have to be murdered in the name of religion.

This poem touched my soul ...India is constantly under the threat of terrorism and now even hospitals are not spared...

Bomb blasts have become a routine now...shopping and commuting to work via train is also now risky...

Life is now in GOD's hands....I wish kriish leaves India when he grows up

Thank you.

God is used as an excuse to commit horrific crimes against humanity.

As Nick Cave once said "We call upon the author to explain"

God has nothing to do with a terrorists actions on either side of the conflict.

u r right BM...i wish GOD shows light and helps man kind...see each other as human beings...the people who r killed are the ones who are common man ( which religion he belongs to when he dies)...he has got a family waiting for him to come back from job/market...with small kids...
when will all this end? No one knows and cares....in fact the politicians use this for votes...

Blood is blood regardless of religion or otherwise.

God does not make men slaughter other men. Men do that themselves.
