the perfect picture

The ground is still wet from the dew that has fell

Sun slowly rising over the hill

The word is a sleep

As I slowly creep

Though the fields and woods

With my camera in hand

I breathe in

Fresh air, the smell of spring

I pause as I take in my surroundings

With my ear buds in, Shaun Morgan singing only for me

The cool water seeping into my black converse

The perfect setting

For the perfect photograph

Before me, I raise my camera

Hold my breath

I snap the picture

The one I have been waiting for

I breathe out and smile
