Freedom to Lie

Poetry By: BounceAround
Poetry

There is no truth behind your words. Just a string of lies.

You think you have the complete freedom to lie,
Little do you know that I have the power to see.
You act as though you have no blocks in your way,
But the children you have see your every wrong doing.
You hide your true self during daylight,
Yet when the sun sets the monster lets loose.
You drive yourself to stay a secret,
Albeit I know the truth.
You speak often to people,
Letting out the smoke you inhale.
You are an addict you see,
And you can’t hide anymore.
You keep hurting the ones you love,
With your day by day little lies you keep up.
You step near to death as you keep up with your addiction,
Potentially leaving your loved ones behind.
You can’t seem to see what you cause,
For you gaze through opaque glass.
You keep taking a drag from your lips,
And keep angering my soul.
You light up a new entry every few minutes,
A new entry to your walkway to hell.
You cause a sense of unwanted anger to grow,
For I keep sending daggers your way.
You leave your mark on every wall,
As your scent lingers on your every step.
Then you wonder why your children stray afar,
When you are the one who strays farther.
You may live under the same roof,
But you’re distant nevertheless.
A life cannot be lived filled with ruthless lies;
Which is why sadness is drawn to my eyes often.
You think you have the complete freedom to lie,
Little do you know that I have the power to see.
