let us stand on our own naked feet

Poetry By: brucek

insecure and afraid, a friendship blooms.

I would trade it away

For a night and a day

Where we stand on our own naked feet.

Past the rivers of sorrows

And the bleak held tomorrows

We could go boldly through unknowable weeds.

Take my rhymes and my verses,

All my findings and searches,

You're far better than any of that.

For my writing sits lonely,

Way down here I am only

Another shadow slipping down through the cracks.

I'd take flight with the swallows,

First to lead then to follow,

To safe places where we're spinning and free.

Let me know where you're going,

My intentions are showing,

But they're only more pieces of me.

Now you know, my good friend,

The beginnings and ends,

Shine down on the secrets we've shared.

Let's walk on through the rain drops

And run down when we should stop

Blown by mysterious mountains of air.
