In the hollow rain,
When the grey above
Leaks colors from my steps,
You comfort me.
----------------------------------------------
Silence is never absolute.
Sounds always seem
To seep into our solitude.
--------------------------------------------------
Wisdom slowly accumulates
In the cracks left over
From our disasters.
------------------------------------------------
The summers of my Huckleberry youth
That were slowly swept away
Lie golden in my memory
And still color me today.
-------------------------------------------------
I hold this hammer in my bloody hand
And bring it smashing down.
Will lightning flash and thunder roll,
Or is it just a hollow sound?
--------------------------------------------------
You have a good, deep, wonderful heart
Down to the twinkling of your toes.
So why do your sweet words desert you
When all of my feelings show?
