I gaze at you lying,

In a coffin edged with gold,

And I look at the letter,

That you loosely hold.

I placed that precious letter,

In your cold and lifeless hand,

And asked you to deliver it,

When you reached that Heavenly Land.

I made an honest entry,

Of how I felt, and still feel,

Then left it in your possession,

After I'd kissed it with a loving seal.

Please deliver this letter to my dear and beautiful mother,

And don't forget to tell her,

How much I miss and love her.

Tell her I miss her,

And wish she was here,

So I could tell her I adore her,

And then hold her near.
