Days Such as This

Poetry By: Charlotte Jayne
Poetry

Where I'd rather be. I dreamt up the idea for this while sitting in a college lecture on the first sunny day of the year. Needless to say; I made my excuses and left.

Lay on the grass and feel the soft green waves wash over you
The sparkling sun tickles your face and you smell the scent of summer
Your heart longs for the coast, but your mind dictates determination
Not long until your free once more
In your mind you dream of soft sand in your hands
Sifting through fingers as precipitation through rainbows
Blown freely to the sea, watching it disappear
Windswept by your own imagination
Long hours wash away, taken with the tide
The lapping shoreline glitters with the glow of heat
You hide from the future in your sandune fortress
Wishing time would wait, for you.
Forever.
