Our serene picture is fading out
The moments are blurred and hazy
Unable to make sense of what I'm watching
Staring into the empty abyss
But powerless to switch off.
Shaking the screen hoping to return
What was once so precious.
Amongst the snow storm I make out two figures;
Lost on a beach, so distant from each other.
Echoing words of disparity through the static
It's heartbreaking.
They are so near but cannot see it.
One disappears into the fuzz, the other still trying
To find her, to save her.
For a time they both are gone
....
Once again I gaze upon the snowstorm
....
He reappears running into the distance
Where the other figure still walks. She's drained.
He sees her again and he's complete
Crying. He strokes her cheek,
Kisses her forehead
And places his coat around her shoulders.
For that moment, hand in hand
All is right in the world.
It won't be easy to escape the storm,
But for now they have each other
But for now we have each other
And that is all that matters.
