Poetry By: Chiqui

Dedicated to my Mom my dearest friend whom I miss so much. A more purer love I could never wish for that of my Mom my friend!

Mom I hope you listening today or are you…
peeping here over my shoulder right now?
Yes! It is me writing to you Mom
Been a long time since we last had a chat
Years have come and years have gone
Even though I have been missing you all this time
I never made the time to write
I know you have forgiven me just as you always do
All the beautiful memories I still have of you
Your hairbrush, my treasure in life
Looking at the grey hair still on its core
Breaks my heart once more
You were always my very best friend
Nothing from you did I need to hide
Your advice was always strong and firm
My up bringing you carefully chose
Giving me the just the very best
Allowing me to see the world
Through eyes of wisdom and truth
Never taking away any of my youth
You taught me forgiveness and that of sin
And you made me say sorry when I done wrong
You showed me how to use a needle and pin
Cook a broth or stew just like you
Pretty girls always look after their face
They keep there bodies clean and pure
And never at table forget to say grace
Washing and ironing is no a nice job
But ladies always do it so you told
When I was little a small tiny tot
On your knee was my favourite spot
When I fell and skinned my knee
You would be right there just for me
Bedtime was my favourite time of day
When fairies came out to play
And fairytales you fondly would tell
Of nymphs and gnomes in Nevaland so far away
You encouraged me in all I done
Developed my skills which made you proud
Even before school I could read and write
The day I married there were tears in your eyes
You said don't worry it is just hard to say goodbyes
I remember the day your grandson was born
The proudest Gran ever I made you that day
You touched my cheek and gave me a hug
Said "thank you my girl for this little boy
You've just given me a brand new toy"
Then came number two, all I can say
She is safe there in heaven with you
Later came three, four and five
They all became part of you
Mom, thank you for always being there for me
My friend, doctor, lawyer, teacher and navigator
Without you I would never have got this far
There has been a lot of up hills for me
Fighting with cancer as hard as it may be
You are the one that taught me set yourself free
You are the one that taught me, to be me
Do what I like and like what I do
At least I have comfort here in my heart
Even though today we are apart
I know you are enjoying your life out there
Where the valleys are green and birds always sing
Watching over your granddaughter and one of mine
Give them kiss and hug from me
Mom, you made me exactly the way I wanted to be
I trust you got this message loud and clear
Just knowing you are always somewhere out there
In my life I will have nothing to fear
Thank you mom for being there, thank you!
