hello
this poem was written by the most famous poet from Cuba, a man who was forced into exile by the Spaniards due to his patriotic writings, that eventually led to Cuba's independence in 1902, he died in combat in 1895. At the time he wrote this, he had been sent into exile, he was in Europe, in Paris during the world's exposition in 1800's (saw the Eiffel Tower when it was first being built, still in construction), was also in Spain, United States, Mexico and other latin american countries.
I will be publishing this and other poems through webook.com in my Anthology of Spanish poetry.
thanks
